I like the Way You Smell!
California Dreaming.....
I was downtown checking out some things and wandered over to Jimmy's Oriental Gardens..it's long since closed of course, but as I walked on a little more I noticed these beautiful food aromas wafting over the sidewalk..the sub sandwich place..I'll be back there soon! Then past Sojourner's Cafe..mmm good..then I was hit with the most lovely, strong bouquet that was a wonderfully sensual experience.....C'est Cheese... cool little store with more cheese than a Louisiana brothel....C'est bon!
Ah...the French! this is good ol' Santa Barbara!!
thank god they saved Jimmy's....
Treeless in California
City of Santa Monica to Cut Down 40 Ficus Trees
KCAL 9 News reports that Santa Monica plans to cut down 40 ficus trees to make a more inviting shopping experience! Apparently, some business owners say the trees lining the business district streets make it too dark and scary for shoppers! Talk about stupid!!
BOYCOTT MESA SHOPPING CENTER!!
Now, the Mesa Shopping Center is doing the same thing..cutting down pines and eucs to get a modernized look.... the clueless Marilynn Leafdale of Investec, who owns the property, said the new look will be more appealing to Santa Barbara shoppers..another southern transplant with no respect for nature telling you what SB should look like! DISGUSTING!! Look, you can update buildings and inject botox into your silly face, but you can't update trees..these were healthy specimens should not have been cut down for such ridiculous reasons!
Less trees, more shoppers!?!?
All they need to do is PRUNE them! Who ARE these people??
Have you ever been responsible for ficus trees near a drive etc? You would realize the value of good plant plans. If you do or pay for pruning$$$$, you might rethink this. Pines planted in wrong areas are a pain. Can be expensive and deadly when branches fall. Loving trees doesn't mean you have to keep all mistakes. A happy tree is one living in compatible area. I was once a tree anti-abortionist, those days are over. I have happy trees and roots that belong. We live in harmony now.

Look Sappy Tree..I'm a tree-hugger...Investec is interested in coins, not trees...now you will get a cookie-cutter shopping center..these trees have been standing for many years providing shelter for birdies..and Investec cuts them down so shoppers can see store signs?! BOYCOTT MESA SHOPPING CENTER!!

Seems like replacing these 78 trees with 221 -- specifically palms and canopy trees -- is a pretty good trade.
Which is what Investec said it plans to do, after complaints by businesses that the trees blocked their signage and concerns that uneven pavement from root growth could cause people to trip.
You didn't give us all the info, Sonny.

The reason I didn’t give you the full story is because I’m a biased blogger, not a journalist.. you must've noticed?
Investec will promise you the moon, but they are all about sprawl and money…Summerland Heights is an example and the proposed Lagunitas in Carpinteria, which they had to scale down massively thanks to Carp activists.
The reason they are cutting down the Mesa trees is to make more money, not because of sap or sidewalks.. it's a marketing ploy.. I stand by my BOYCOTT!
