POP! POP! POP!!

...go the weasels

While there are serious problems facing environmentalists and psychologists/medical professionals, invasion by alien plants and restless leg syndrome aren't among them! Pop environmentalism and pop psychology have given us a list of ailments that are too silly to take seriously, unless you are a politician or own a drug company!

ADD Hoax..

"The reason I speak of a hoax in the case of "attention deficit disorder" is that there is no such "mental disorder" to "diagnose" and "treat." And the reason I speak of a great hoax is that the less competent medical practitioners use this phony "diagnosis" as a warrant to "treat" millions of school children (over 5,000,000) per year by intoxicating them with brain-disabling narcotics."

Restless Leg Syndrome

Drug Companies Invent Diseases (aka Diseasemongering)
Status: Medical News
The journal Public Library of Science Medicine is publishing a special series of articles devoted to the practice of "diseasemongering": when pharmaceutical companies invent diseases, or market cures for benign conditions, in order to sell more drugs. The Times, reporting on the special issue, writes that:

conditions such as female sexual dysfunction, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and “restless legs syndrome” have been promoted by companies hoping to sell more of their drugs. Other minor problems that are a normal part of life, such as symptoms of the menopause, are also becoming increasingly “medicalised”, while risk factors such as high cholesterol levels or osteoporosis are being presented as diseases in their own right, according to the editors.

Invasive Species Scam

"A quick little history, because a lot of you know about it. For most people this started with President Clinton’s Executive Order 13112, February 3, 1999, entitled Invasive Species. Okay, why did he do it? Al Gore told him to do it or asked him to do it. Who asked Al Gore to do it? Well, from my research of the history of this thing, there are two major environmental organizations that pushed this more than any others—our old friends at The Nature Conservancy and the World Conservation Union, or the IUCN.(1) When you look at the history of this issue, you can see how this built up, including the bureaucracies too. I left them out."
