Deryk and Dr. Laura...NewsPress Military Reporters?

General — Posted by Sonny @ 09:30

I’m Flabberghasted!

conservative family values!

I could barely believe my eyes when I read CRAIGSMITH this morning. He says Dr. Laura is “being honored” by the defense dept (Rumfeld’s old haunt) for supporting the war! Imagine that. Instead of working to end the foolish occupation of Iraq by the Bush Administration, she’s gets a medal for being the #1 Bush CHEERLEADER! Her charity, Operation Family Fund, allegedly helps Iraq war families because the US government won't! What a bunch of BS! The best way to help US families is to get the fuck outta Iraq!

but....

Schlessinger has another reason to support the troops that's even nearer to her heart.
"My kidlet's in Afghanistan," she said of her who son, is deployed with the 82nd Airborne Division. "I wouldn't have understood as much as I do now (if it weren't for him). So I've taken it as my personal responsibility to get everybody up to speed."

More at MilitaryNewsPress….

“My kidlet”?? Your kidlet is being investigated by the military for possible court martial!! What kind of a con is our government running when they honor Dr. Laura and fear Cindy Sheehan??

Please, someone..help me understand….

Welcome..it's The Real McCaws....

Monarchs and Mongrels

Wendy and Craig McCaw are going to be fixtures in Santa Barbara for a long time, and they've called out the dogs of war. Between them, they must own over 100 million dollars in real estate, so I've decide to do a little investigative reporting.

They are divorced but share common interests and visions for California. Their visions are not all earthly, either. Certainly, I am gaining some perspective about this dynamic duo.

Whales and Aliens

Wendy loves whales because Craig loves whales, or visa versa? Either way, their foundation spent over 3 million dollars to "save" a much-abused-by-humans whale named Keiko, who "starred" in the "Free Willy" movies. Keiko could not adapt to the wild due to his domestication by humans and eventually died from all the attention and handling.. with friends like these....

Says Craig McCaw: "The orcas swim in space that we don't very well understand and of course in outer space we will face some day the moral dilemma of how to deal with aliens who land on earth, perhaps, if in fact what

people believe is true- and we will have the same moral dilemma in

exchanging people or creatures back and forth with them for

understanding.

What is right and to what degree should it be voluntary or not

voluntary or for the good of society, theirs or ours? So we're on

the cusp of some very difficult issues that we frankly aren't going

to escape very easily. But it's quite clear to us that these are

extremely intelligent creatures. That dolphins and killer whales are

very much like us only with fins and there is a certain amount of

mutual understanding that comes from this exchange".

Yeah, Craig..I'm concerned about spacemen, too!

California

Craig brought his dough from Seattle to Santa Barbara and snatched up property on Park Lane in Montecito and 60 acres of beachfront sand by the Bacara in Goleta. The first thing people with inordinate amounts of money do is cut down ALL the trees on their new property. I've seen it time and time again! I don't understand it, but there it is. McCaw is no different, having chopped more than 200 eucalyptus trees at his new digs. I guess he doesn't like butterflies! Wendy, of course, beat him to SB and bought the News-Press, a big spread in Hope Ranch and numerous other holdings. Then she hooked up with the Montecito social set and found companionship with Arthur Von Weisenberger, AKA Nipper, who appears to know a lot about nothing!

Together, they have blazed a publishing trail with a scorched earth policy.

Craig McCaw now shares the Santa Barbara spotlight with Wendy, and the headlines will be filled with their antics. Pearl Chase and Charles Stearns must be turning in their graves....

NewsPress Hypes Bottled Water and Cigarettes....

General — Posted by Sonny @ 09:32

It's got nothing to do with being PC; it's got everything to do with having some Common Sense, Nipper..you moron! His response: Yes, I am big on bottled water and have been for most of my life. Full disclosure - I am the founder of www.bottledwaterweb.com which is an industry supported web site

The recent NewsPress editorial suggests:

  1. bottled water is ok as long as you recycle the plastic and

  2. cigarettes on the beach are not that big of a problem.

To think otherwise indicates political correctness. This highlights the phony concern for the environment that has laced some of their other editorials over the years. All you need to do is walk on the beach, pick up some litter and see how many cigarettte butts you get. POLLUTION!

Next, Nipper gets Travis to write about bottled water saying "plastic is okay!"

How many millions of gallons of potable water have you treated, Nipper? I'd wager "none". You know NOTHING about water treatment! Stop pretending you do!

The bottled water industry depends on gullible customers who believe the hype. The energy it takes to make bottled tap water is absurd! Plastic bottles should be banned from the landscape! and you should be banned! and Dr. Laura should be banned..and Wendy, too!!

The NewsPress can't justify this silly editorial simply because Nipper fancies himself a bottled water expert..what a ruse!

Bottled water marketing can be misleading.

Chapter 5 shows that despite recent FDA rules intended to reduce misleading marketing, some bottled water comes from sources that are vastly different from what the labels might lead consumers to believe. One brand of water discussed in this report was sold as "spring water" and its label showed a lake and mountains in the background -- with FDA's explicit blessing. But until recently the water actually came from a periodically contaminated well in an industrial facility's parking lot, near a waste dump (a state whistleblower informed the local media after years of internal struggles, finally putting an end to the use of this source).[30] Another brand of water sold with a label stating it is "pure glacier water" actually came from a public water supply, according to state records.[31] While FDA recently adopted rules intended to curb such practices, those rules include many weak spots and loopholes (including those that allowed the water taken from an industrial-park well to be sold as spring water with a label picturing mountains), and there are very few resources to enforce them.

Train in Vain....

Blood on the Tracks...

Santa Claus Lane is a very popular place, especially in summer. Unfortunately, it is close to the railroad tacks. Trains barrel by five to ten times a day. You have to cross the tracks to get to the beach and if you aren't paying attention, you could get killed. The tracks are no place for dogs, children, or people talking on cell phones. We never had a problem or death until recently, where a man talking on his cell phone tried to save his unleashed dog from an oncoming train..the odds were stacked against him.

Union Pacific owns the property by the tracks and may resort to putting up a fence to keep people out. That would be sad. Use a little common sense so we all can continue to enjoy this beach...and avoid further tragedies.

Dr. Laura Talks About Her Son.........

General — Posted by Sonny @ 12:39

kinda, sorta..and the redundancy of bloggers being redundant, repeating themselves over and over again..redundantly

What amazes me about Laura is how little she knows about psychology! She cites some lame story about hostile bloggers having health problems because of “pent up anger”. Actually, the reverse is true. Free blog speech is good for you whether you are angry or lovey dovey. It scares people like Dr. Laura because it exposes them to their flock..and that means losing money and control. To muddle things further, her son had the blog that was violent, hostile, angry and racist while enlisted in the Armed Services.. perhaps she needs to clean her own house first.

Next, her strange rambling wordy essay about society and family deterioration , obviously it is about her son’s military problems, but she conveniently blames everyone else….and labels them “evil-doers”….

"Unfortunately, bad things happen sometimes. Some of those bad things are forces of nature: hurricanes, mudslides, tornados, earthquakes, and disease. While life, death, loss, and injury are horrendous experiences to deal with, psychologically we are somewhat more philosophical about these encounters with horror because they aren’t “personal.”
“Personal” horrors, on the other hand, include intentional harm to the body, soul, property, psychological well-being and reputation of another for political, egotistical, or financial gain - or for the simple pleasure derived from having the power to destroy. These experiences turn out to be more difficult to cope with, because they are not seen as “the stuff that could and has happened to anyone.”
In addition, there is great compassion and sympathy for those struck by nature, while a profound fear of helping is the general response to personal attacks on an innocent party, lest one get caught in the sights of the evil-doer"…

WOW!! and I thought I was crazy!

I dream of Laura, with the light blond highlighted hair….

A poster got me thinking…who would I rather have sex with if my only options were Dr. Laura and Wendy McCuckoo…well, today, Dr. Laura tipped the scale in her favor. It’s her passion! She LAMBASTED the SB Newsroom for signing off and proving the anti-NewsPress folks are indeed cheapskates and hypocrites for not supporting the eight. Man, she was MAD! Actually, we are waiting for one of the reporters to marry a billionaire, divorce him, and collect the cash..then they will have all the support they need!

I have included a picture of her topless so when I reread this post, I’ll get excited!

So my choice is Dr. Laura..hands down..er.. one hand anyway……….

We over-populate, pollute, we’re spoiled, we’re stupid. The earth will benefit immensely with our demise. Nature will regain her foothold, and the cycle of life will start all over again. The next group of humans will be more aware. The natives will populate first but these tribes won’t even know what a poker chip is! Then the white guys will come along. I will be their leader and will have a couple of pretty girls to help repopulate California. I will encourage open borders and multi-lingualism for everyone except Islamic and Christian fanatics.

The seas will continue to rise and eventually the earth will be covered with water. Then we’ll all drown!

Blazing a Rock n Roll Trail...

Back in the 60’s, Los Angeles was the place where young rockers could play clubs like the Whiskey a Go Go on fabled Sunset Blvd, get noticed, get a following, get a record contract and get rich. Then came the fame, the girls, the drugs, the work, the hype, the fans and a question: how in the world could you survive all that?

When Stephen Stills walked on stage at the intimately cool Marjorie Luke Theatre in Santa Barbara on Sunday night, the sold out audience gave him a rousing welcome and we got a glimpse of a man who has survived a turbulent career and surfaced as a true artist and a die hard rock ‘n’ roller.

Forty years later, he’s still blazing! Opening with “Helplessly Hoping” played on a big Gretsch White Falcon, Stills sang with a time ravaged but strong voice and fans of all ages were whooping with appreciation of some fine songs. A first hour acoustic set included a rousing version of “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes”, “Johnny’s Garden” from Manassas, some funny banter and he closed with an electric set and a few encores. Highlights were “Isn’t It A-bout Time” and “Joe Walsh’s “Rocky Mountain Way” on which Stills played a mean slide guitar and kept flicking guitar picks out into the audience! Then “ For What It’s Worth” got everybody up and dancing in the isles and rushing up to the stage! What are we? Teenagers!?

Well, it was fun..LOUD..but fun!

I was downtown checking out some things and wandered over to Jimmy's Oriental Gardens..it's long since closed of course, but as I walked on a little more I noticed these beautiful food aromas wafting over the sidewalk..the sub sandwich place..I'll be back there soon! Then past Sojourner's Cafe..mmm good..then I was hit with the most lovely, strong bouquet that was a wonderfully sensual experience.....C'est Cheese... cool little store with more cheese than a Louisiana brothel....C'est bon!

City of Santa Monica to Cut Down 40 Ficus Trees

KCAL 9 News reports that Santa Monica plans to cut down 40 ficus trees to make a more inviting shopping experience! Apparently, some business owners say the trees lining the business district streets make it too dark and scary for shoppers! Talk about stupid!!

BOYCOTT MESA SHOPPING CENTER!!

Now, the Mesa Shopping Center is doing the same thing..cutting down pines and eucs to get a modernized look.... the clueless Marilynn Leafdale of Investec, who owns the property, said the new look will be more appealing to Santa Barbara shoppers..another southern transplant with no respect for nature telling you what SB should look like! DISGUSTING!! Look, you can update buildings and inject botox into your silly face, but you can't update trees..these were healthy specimens should not have been cut down for such ridiculous reasons!

Less trees, more shoppers!?!?

All they need to do is PRUNE them! Who ARE these people??

her Independence…

Dr Laura's TRANSFORMATION... liberal eyes...

In her latest ( and very short) NewsPress column, Dr (of thinkology) Laura now says she is an independent. Hey, maybe she's been reading this blog! She doesn’t like the two party system whereby folks vote along party lines. She says it dumbs down the voters. Well, yeah. She says those critical of Bush’s Iraq war are now not all that bad! HA. A few weeks ago she was lecturing people who were critical of Bush. Now, when more and more conservatives start thinking for themselves and speaking out against Bush, she’s all for it...

Maybe she has seen what wars do to people like her son. Maybe she has finally come to the realization that wars must be entered into with extreme care..American lives are not disposable items just to keep idiots in power!

The NewsPress trial is coming in August. I hope they call Dr. Laura as a witness..now that would be entertaining!

Wendy Hearts Old People!!

Wendy McCaw, lacking any real retort to criticism against her management style, gets hysterical and calls Lou Cannon a "decrepit, old man" in today's opinion. Then she goes on and on trying to justify her paper (the Santa Barbara NewsPress) and the wonderful job she has done. She tells us the reason for all the commotion at the paper is "money"..she needs to protect the "bottom line" and needs to turn a profit. After five years, no profits? What a wiz of a biz lady! This is what happens when you get your money from your rich ex-husband..no work ethic!!

an example of what a Stanford education will get ya!

"Today the hue and cry of "journalistic ethics" by your journalist elite, rather than being the noble words you assert, instead have become little more than the chant of an ancient priesthood long discarded by their former flock, our readers."

"That is not in keeping with the tenants of fairness and integrity. Simply put, that is the reason changes were needed at the News-Press."

huh..wha?? I think you mean "tenets" not "tenants" Wendy

Wendythewordsmith

All the while, she smacks ex-employees who have left, calling them "sick" for being disloyal to her! She's like a wounded animal in a corner...GROOWWWLLL!!

A Conversation with Arnold……..

I met up with Arnie at a little coffee shop outside Lake Tahoe.....

Sonny: How’s it hangin’ dude?

Arnold: Hi! Mr. Sonny...Ya know, that’s what Dr. Laura said to me when I went for a ride on her boat! She groped my weinerschnitzel and started barking like a little dog..then she called me her li’l nazi!

Sonny: I’m shocked..what happened next..

Arnold: what happens on Dr. Laura’s boat, stays on Dr. Laura’s boat..you know, like Vegas! Besides, Maria may be reading this interview…

Sonny: Yeah, I know. Speaking of Vegas, are you trying to turn California into an Indian gambling glitter state? A casino in every neighborhood? Balance the budget on gamblers?

Arnold: Ya..I am! I like to gamble and so do all those folks who live in trailer parks..if you count them all up, and then count all the money they lose at the casinos, why not take a portion for Colyfornia? See, Sonny. I’m a businessman and so are the Indians..we are going to “terminate the budget deficit!” HA HA HA..

Sonny: Ok..um, what do you think of all the Mexicans sneaking over the border for the last 50 years?

Arnold: I like ‘em. The Mexican girls are hot. Maria is a Mexican..

Sonny: Maria, your wife, is a Mexican?

Arnold: Ya.. I think so

Sonny: Well, she’s lovely woman! I like Mexican girls ,too!

Arnold..ya, me too!

Sonny: Speaking of Nazis, the Channel Islands Park folks and Nature Conservancy have been slaughtering animals on the islands that they have deemed non-native. It’s kinda like what the Nazis did to the Jews. I think the whole thing is a scam because bionativism is a fake science. And besides, I like the pigs and fennel over there. What I don’t like are the tourists and “biologists” messing around with the natural order of things. What do you think?

Arnold: Tourists bring money and that’s what the Colyfornia islands need..money, not piggies. In the old country, I had pigs for pets..they were like family members..until we killed and ate them.

Sonny: Well, I can see I got my work cut out for me..thanks for your time Arnold. Maybe we’ll talk again soon…

Arnold: Ok Sonny…but don’t bet on it!! HA HA HA

bitch! that's the word!! Wendy's Trial Upcoming in August....put the bitch on trial!

we will hear about labor laws that Wendy broke! Meanwhile, here's a look at her lawsuit with a former love man...

Billionaire and Santa Barbara News-Press Owner, Wendy P. McCaw, Found to Have Engaged in "Despicable Conduct" and Ordered to Pay $14.8 Million in General and Punitive Damages

The conduct of Wendy P. McCaw, the owner and CEO of the Santa Barbara News-Press, in connection with her business dealings, including the News-Press was recently found to be "despicable" by Justice Eagleson, Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court (Ret.). The ruling was made in an arbitration brought by Mrs. McCaw against her former employee, Greg Parker.

McCaw tried to avoid paying sums Parker earned under several contracts which a host of blue chip lawyers and financial advisors drafted for her. McCaw forced arbitration and also claimed defamation and other damages which her spokesman declared as being "tens of millions of dollars." Mr. Parker countered, claiming McCaw had breached several contracts and had engaged in fraudulent conduct. The damages awarded Mr. Parker against Mrs. McCaw and her related entities, including punitive damages and interest, are in excess of $14.8 Million. Justice Eagleson's conclusion regarding McCaw's claims was that "McCaw shall recover nothing".

In a written arbitration award made public today, Justice Eagleson found that McCaw's overall conduct was "oppressive, meaning despicable" and merited the imposition of punitive damages. The award stated that there were many examples of her conduct that Justice Eagleson found despicable, and describes three: McCaw "stripped [the incentive compensation vehicle in which Parker had an interest] of its assets, and used part of [those assets] to support a line of credit needed to purchase the Santa Barbara News-Press." She also hired a public relations firm, Michael Sitrick & Company, "to place articles in her newspaper complimentary to herself and derogatory of Parker in an effort to create a community animus towards Parker." She then filed a complaint against Parker with the State Bar that was "completely without merit" "out of spite to harass and intimidate Parker."

The award shows it was based on credibility. It describes McCaw and her personal lawyer (and Santa Barbara News-Press former Publisher and current President) Joseph Cole as not being credible: "As far as McCaw's testimony is concerned she waffled, contradicted herself, was generally uncertain, suffered from unusual lack of recollection, was evasive and expressed denial of events even in the face of written evidence to the contrary. Put differently, she was a totally unconvincing witness." The award continued: "Cole was a completely compromised witness... [H]e was not able to testify forthrightly about the events in which he was directly involved and with respect to which he should have had much better recollection. He too was an unconvincing witness."

In contrast, Justice Eagleson found that Mr. Parker and others not in Mrs. McCaw's employ testified truthfully. The award states: "The arbitrator finds that Parker's testimony is more credible." "Parker's testimony was direct, responsive, unequivocal and consistent with the written documentation introduced into evidence. So was the testimony of lay third party witnesses, many of whom were McCaw's legal and accounting advisors."

Parker, who was represented by the Santa Barbara law firm of Foley & Bezek, said: "Justice Eagleson's conclusion of 'despicable' pretty well sums Wendy McCaw's conduct in attempting to avoid paying me what I earned. The fact that she is now attempting to avoid compliance with the arbitration award is entirely consistent with her past behavior "

Thomas Foley, Parker's lawyer, said: "The award specifically finds that the contracts were prepared at Mrs. McCaw's initiative, and that their provisions were fair and reasonable to her. The fact that Mr. Parker prevailed on every material element of his claim in this arbitration is a complete validation of his case, and a complete rejection of Mrs. McCaw's case. We prevailed in arbitration, and we will continue to prevail in the Courts."

"The litigation war she waged through her hired Los Angeles law and
public relations firms was intense but Mr. Parker stood his ground,
constantly bringing her back to facts she could neither prove nor defend. He proved that her claims were merit-less and that she, like everyone else, must honor the contracts she so carefully negotiated with him. In arbitration, an award of punitive damages is rare but the award against Mrs. McCaw speaks volumes about the legal and personal attacks launched against Mr. Parker in her case and through her newspaper."

Justice Eagleson found that Parker insisted that McCaw have independent counsel and advice respect to the employment contracts. The award specifically found that all contracts were fair and reasonable to McCaw at the time she signed them, and that Parker had complied with all applicable rules.

McCaw had claimed that notwithstanding all of her independent advisors, she was the victim of "undue influence." Justice Eagleson wrote that while Parker was working for McCaw, he was doing, in McCaw's own words, a "near perfect" job. Justice Eagleson found that she had been advised at least ten separate times by her independent advisors when developing the contracts with Mr. Parker, and that Mr. Parker "had nothing to do with the intrinsics of the [shared appreciation agreement]". Justice Eagleson concluded "That [dramatic increase in the value of the shared appreciation interest] is what provoked McCaw, not undue influence."
