Honey..You're Under Arrest!

What size handcuffs?.. Despite Wendy's claims that she fired almost everybody at the NewsPress because they suddenly became bad employees, the NLRB has seemingly found evidence to the contrary. They plan to prosecute her for breaking labor laws. Now I know the rich expect a little more justice than the rest of us, but perhaps this will be the test case when they try to mess with the working class in Santa Barbara!

stand up..stand up..stand up for your rights!

Personality Disorders..of some local newspaper editors

General — Posted by Sonny @ 11:21

from Santa Barbara to Santa Maria, these disorders are deeply ingrained, unhealthy personality patterns- paranoia (overly suspicious), narcissistic, dependent, compulsive and secretive. Some are caused by the disintegration of the Gestalt, or whole. In the old days, they used to bore a hole in the skull to release the demons. Nowadays, therapy is indicated..a caring setting where you can explore your own craziness without judgement! Wisdom can be yours if you sign up today! and please hurry...

WATER!!

seeks its own level... if you've been hangin' out with losers your whole life, it may be time to seek another level... like water: the universal solvent..you can drink it, bathe, pee and poop in it and it always comes back clean..it's very ZEN... if nothing good happens to you in 2007, then seek your own level..be like water!

Christmas &

Freedom!

Let's not forget the men & women who fight for our right to be free. Regardless of the stupidity of our leaders, the rank and file service men and women and the commanders deserve not to be FORGOTTEN! so Merry Christmas to them and thanks!!

Montecito..NEW & IMPROVED!

Montecito..New & Improved!

From Ty Warner's never-ending upgrade to his orange citadel on Channel Drive, to the Coral Casino, up to the Ranch, over to the Picacho Lane monstrosities, Montecito has been transformed from a stately, modest beach town to a garrish, showy bling town! Thanks to the "celebs", trust fund babies (waaaa!) and botox bimbos for making it possible

the Sheriff's Council Goes on a Diet!

General — Posted by Sonny @ 10:37

this is their motto: Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Council..Helping the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department protect us and themselves

The Sheriff's Council, that fun-loving group of porky Montecitans and Santa Barbarans, has recently shed some members. Controversy, "where's the money?" questions (good job, CJ Ward for exposing this fiscal mess), infighting, and obesity have rendered this private club nearly extinct! GOOD!! We don't need it. Private clubs like this are a breeding ground for corruption..no oversight and too much pork... who's next..COLAB?

Wild Turkeys..have got me..on the run...

the NewsPress Phony Animal Rights Posturing..

what's most troubling is the Parks Service, Nature Conservancy and NewsPress share the same management style..secrecy, lies and inability to listen to reason..

The paper tries very hard to pass herself off as an animal rights advocate. However, you can't profess to love animals and at the same time have such contempt for people by waging a war on the local working class ...it just doesn't wash.

Many have spoken out against the Nature Conservancy/Parks Service management of the islands. It has been horrible! The question is not should animals be killed, but to what degree and why. Any realistic observation of nature will indicate hunting is necessary ..for food & population control. Watch any cat rip into a rat or mouse and there's the instinct..we all have it! Mass killing of animals in the name of the pseudo-science of bionativism is reprehensible. I can only hope folks will see the folly of the Parks Service attempt to "save" the fox...the fox will survive if nature intends. People need to step back and let so-called natives and non-natives live together..and that means adaptabilty is the keynote to survival.

Mafia vs the NewsPress

General — Posted by Sonny @ 09:13
the NewsPress continues to fret about the Teamster's mafia past.. but was the mafia such a bad thing? They had their own system of swift justice, good family values, great parties and good, yummy pasta, cool guns, loads o' wine, and they had a sense of style and humor..plus, presidents of the USA hung out with them!

TEAMSTERS WITHDRAW THREE UNFAIR LABOR PRACTICE CLAIMS AGAINST NEWS-PRESS; FOURTH CLAIM DISMISSED BY NLRB

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – December 11, 2006 – The Santa Barbara News-Press has been advised by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) that the Teamsters Union has agreed to withdraw three of the unfair labor practice charges they filed against the paper, after having been informed the NRLB found insufficient evidence to proceed on the charges. The NLRB dismissed a fourth claim brought by the union against the News-Press.

The process for handling unfair labor practice charges involves an in-depth investigation of the facts and a determination by the NLRB whether sufficient evidence exists to schedule a hearing. If the NLRB finds insufficient justification after its review, the charging party is offered a choice to withdraw the claim or have the agency issue a dismissal.

The Teamsters agreed to withdraw the three unfair labor practice charges that they filed against the paper, which are:

1) An allegation that the Employer unfairly discharged an employee

2) A claim that the Employer conducted an unlawful interview with an employee

3) An allegation that the Employer unlawfully changed work assignments

The fourth claim was an allegation by the Teamsters that the paper engaged in unlawful surveillance of employees. The NLRB made the decision that further proceedings were not warranted.

“We are encouraged that after a thorough investigation by the NLRB, these four baseless union claims were found to be without merit,” said David J. Millstein, general counsel for the Santa Barbara News-Press.

The NLRB also announced it will set a hearing date on the paper’s objections to the union election.

The continued Teamsters orchestrated publicity activities are intended to damage the paper’s current and future business relationships. The Teamsters’ ongoing campaign against the News-Press most recently included accelerated threatening behavior which forces the paper to file unfair labor practice charges against the union.

The News-Press believes that the barrage of intimidating tactics being played out in Santa Barbara against the paper have nothing to do with the newsroom employees at the News-Press. Such public displays highlight Teamster underlying motives to pacify and retain members to justify union dues at a time that union membership is declining.

“Missing from the debate thus far has been an examination of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters history,” said Sarah Longwell, director of communications for the non-profit Center for Union Facts in Washington D.C., “Four of the last eight presidents have been indicted. It has long been a poster child for corruption.”

Dr. Laura Burns the Bull...a union sacrifice

General — Posted by Sonny @ 17:29
Sunday 12/10: Read Dr Laura's nutty piece on unions and wasn't too surprised. Unions exist for the working class, i.e. folks who go to work everyday, pay rents and mortgages, raise children, work more, get called in to work on their days off and serve the public. These folks should be justly compensated! Naturally, she wouldn't understand. Her method of getting a job promotion in the radio biz was to have an affair with her boss and then preach morals to her idiot listeners!

She quotes a talk given by a guy from the Wall Street Journal! The conservative WSJ exists to make sure business profits..unions organize workers so the profits aren't at the expense of the employees. Then she goes on to call the unions "gulags" and dredges up all the mob cliches from the past.

It's a fact that some who work where unions are present don't want to pay dues, but they expect to reap the benefits when negotiations with management come around. But these folks are notorious for bad-mouthing the unions to ease their guilt about not paying dues. They throw mud..some sticks and some doesn't!

They are in the minority. They are self-serving, hypocritical, hyper-critical and will always be in the work environment Even if a union was voted on by the majority, they still don't have to pay dues. Instead, they pay an agency fee, determined by the union and usually less than dues. And they still benefit from collective bargaining, i.e., any raises and benefits negotiated between workers and management! Do you think management is just gonna drop and give you just compensation if you are among the rank and file? NO WAY! Especially true in private industry where profit and greed rule...just look at the NewsPress! It is scared to death of the union!! Wendy's got Dr. Laura, Agnes Huffsnit and Travis 0.23 firing off editorials, press releases and columns explaining the evils associated with union representation..and it's all BULL!

Soon, Wendy, who got her fortune by divorce, will have to sit and talk face-to-face with her perceived enemies- her employees. So far, she has been afraid to! Her "leadership" through the NewsPress saga has been frightful. Dr. Laura calls this "individuality"!!

Miramar and the "Silence of the Billionaires"

General — Posted by Sonny @ 10:50
The Miramar represents old Montecito before all the silly blingers moved there. It was a fun, casual beach town with some mansions, beach houses and not a self-conscious botox bimbo anywhere! Now, all has changed. The Miramar was sold to all the wrong people who took little pieces out here and there and left us a ruin. Unconscionable! Now Ty Warner wants to sell it..all his petty reasons articulated by his mouthpiece Greg Rice. Why in the world can't the area billionaires learn how to communicate with this city one-on-one?? FEAR..that's why! As far as Ty is concerned..STOP BUYING for a while if you can't stand the scrutiny! A new buyer for the Miramar needs to remember the past: a simple beach side hotel for travelers and locals alike!
